Video Montage

Untitled from chloe sibs on Vimeo.

The theme I chose for my montage was the transition from day to night. I think I got a good amount of photos to work with , although I feel some were not as good quality as others. I liked the editing I did at the beginning with the split screen and the fast paced photos later in the montage, I think this almost appeared as if it were film.

I think I should have made a neater ending. I think the abrupt finish of the flashing photos doesn't totally go with the music.
The music I used was Sinnerman, the felix remix. I think the music complimented the piece. I think the fade in of the music goes well with the fade up of the image as well.

I think I did do well with this montage but I think the length and quality of photos could be improved and maybe if I included some film it would have looked more professional.

  1. Carlina's analysis of Chloe's montage :)

What does it remind me of:
It reminds me of a journey that could happen in a car or bus, it is quick and flashes by, much like the sights you see when you are travelling. For some reason, there is a scene from the new parent trap movie where "Hallie" gets her first sight of london and is watching it whiz by as she is in her taxi, the song "there she goes" is playing. This montage reminds me a lot of that quick scene.

    Things I liked:
I liked the transition from day to night, it shows progress and helps represent the feeling of a journey. It also shows that there is lots of different times/locations in which the footage is shot and that is a plus.
I also really liked the way the images matched the pace of the song, it was quick and snappy and really suited the quick piano trills that are being played.

    A way to improve it:
Probably to use some video so you can use more edits on it. Also to make the whole thing slightly longer, as it seems to cut off at the end.

Well done though Chloe :) :) Xx

  2. What it reminds me,

I don't really know why but it this reminds me of 'Lost in translation". I think it because the way your montage goes from being slow to really fast paced. This is kind of similar to the film where when they are inside its quiet and peacefully and outside is crazy and colourfully.

    Things I liked and why,

I like the speed it works perfectly with the music from going really slowly to super fast i think its great.

The effects you have used to merge images together works really well and makes it more interesting to watch. The one that stands out to me is the bus and city street one.

    Ways to improve:

I would change some of the images that irrelevant to something more interesting. The one with the man thats crossing would be one of them. It doesn't work with sequence to well at all.
